Skid steer loader are 4 wheel drive machines where left and right sides are independent drives thus increasing wheel speed & rotational direction of wheel determines which direction loader turns. They have very good maneuverability with 0 radius pirouette turning making them useful in places where agile and compact loader is required.

The loaders drive system does not have any transmission and instead it makes use of hydraulic motors and pumps for powering the tracks or wheels. These loaders are different from front loaders which commonly have pivot points & arms in the front. In skid steer loaders the arms are alongside driver & pivot points behind operator.

There is provision wherein you can replace the conventional bucket with any specialized attachment or bucket such as dumping hopper, angle broom, backhoe, auger, mower, snow blade, etc.

Applications of skid steer loaders
