Graders

Graders are also called as road graders, motor graders or maintainers and have large blade that helps in creating flat surface. Normally these heavy construction equipments have 3 axles and the cab as well as engine is located over rear axle at one end and the 3rd axle in front section of the vehicle. The blade is situated in between the rear and front axles.

In the field of civil engineering, the work performed by the grader is finish grade all of the rough grading done by heavy equipments like bulldozers or scrapers. A grader can help in production of inclined surface for proving camber for roads. These are also used for creating drainage ditches having cross sections which are shallow and V-shaped on highway’s either sides.

  2. Moldboard: This term is used to refer to moveable blade. The width of these blades is 10 – 15 feet but can very well be up to 25 feet as well.
  3. Articulation Joints: These joints are only available in graders that have articulated frames. It possible to have the articulated joints in the back or in front of can.
